Haihao Group Ships ASTM A105 Threaded Fittings to India with Comprehensive Inspection Documentation

Haihao Group has completed the production and shipment of a batch of ASTM A105 threaded fittings for an Indian customer. The order covers 90° threaded elbows, threaded tees, reducing threaded tees, reducing couplings, and threaded branch fittings in several nominal bore sizes.

The main fittings are manufactured to ASME B16.11, with NPT threaded connections and Class 2000 pressure ratings. Selected branch fittings are supplied to MSS SP-97 in Class 3000. Most of the carbon steel fittings are galvanized according to the customer’s specification, providing an additional protective surface for the intended service environment.

For this order, the customer’s requirements extended beyond dimensions and material grade. Haihao Group also arranged material reinspection, heat treatment documentation, non-destructive testing records, third-party witnessing, and a CNAS laboratory test report covering chemical composition, mechanical properties, hardness, impact performance and other specified characteristics.

ASTM A105 Threaded Fittings for an Indian Piping Project

The order was designed around small- and medium-bore pressure piping connections where NPT threading allows components to be assembled without butt welding. The supplied sizes range from 25NB to 100NB for the main threaded fittings, with reducing configurations included where different pipe sizes need to be connected.

The use of ASTM A105 is particularly suitable for forged carbon steel pressure fittings. ASME B16.11 covers forged socket-welding and threaded fittings, including requirements related to dimensions, pressure-temperature ratings, tolerances, marking and materials. For internally threaded fittings, the standard references American National Standard taper pipe threads, commonly known as NPT threads.

Why the Specification Matters

Galvanized Surface Protection

For this order, inspection was not treated as a final-stage activity. The material certificate was checked against the purchase requirements before manufacturing, followed by reinspection of the incoming material.

During production, attention was given to fitting dimensions, threading, surface condition and heat treatment records. After manufacturing and galvanizing, the finished fittings were inspected before packing.

For ASTM A105 threaded fittings, dimensional conformity and thread quality are especially important because the threaded connection directly affects installation and sealing performance. The NPT connection also needs to be checked using the appropriate gauges and inspection procedures.
