European Standards
Industrial pipe,tube and fittings standards and specifications from the BSi(British Standards Institute).There are many British standards available which can be used instead of American Standards in piping engineering.
European Standards:

This British Standard specifies requirements for a series of carbon steel,alloy steel,cast iron and copper alloy flanges,and also appropriate bolts and nuts,for use with pipes,valves and fittings containing steam,oil,compressed air or water.
BS EN 1759-1 :2004 Standard – Specification for Flanges and their joints.Circular Flanges for Pipes,Valves, Fittings and Accessories,Class-designated

This standard specifies the flange types and their facings,dimensions,tolerances,threading,bolt sizes,flange jointing face surface finish,marking,materials and pressure/temperature ratings.BS EN 1759-1:2004 Standard for a single system of flanges specifies requirements for circular steel flanges in Class designations Class 150 to Class 2 500 and nominal sizes from NPS ½ to NPS 24.
This standard does not apply to flanges made from bar stock by turning, or to flanges of types 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 made from plate material.
BS 1600 :1991 Standard – Specification for dimensions of steel pipe for the petroleum industry

This Part of EN 10216 may also be applied for tubes of non-circular cross section; necessary modification should be agreed at the time of enquiry and order.
BS EN 10216-3 :2013 Standard – Seamless Steel Tubes for Pressure Purposes – Technical Delivery Conditions – Part 3: Alloy Fine Grain Steel Tubes
BS EN 10216-4 :2013 Standard – Seamless Steel Tubes for Pressure Purposes – Technical Delivery Conditions – Part 4: Non-alloy and Alloy Steel tubes with Specified Low Temperature Properties
BS EN 10216-5 :2013 Standard – Seamless Steel Tubes for Pressure Purposes – Technical delivery conditions – Part 5: Stainless Steel Tubes
BS EN 10217-1 :2019 Standard – Welded steel tubes for pressure purposes.Technical delivery conditions.Electric welded and submerged arc welded non-alloy steel tubes with specified room temperature properties
It’s the first in a series of seven European product standards on welded steel tubes and pipes for pressure purposes. Such pipes are mainly for use in industrial pipework specified and designed in accordance with the BS EN 13480 series of standards. Part 1 covers non-alloy HFW and SAW steel tubes and pipes intended for room temperature service.
BS EN 10217 steel tubes and pipes can be used for a whole range of applications including in building services, chemicals, industrial processes, oil and gas processing refining and distribution, shipbuilding, valve and fittings manufacture as well as for product development and commercial issues. Users will include:
- Steel strip, plate, tube and pipe designers and producers
- Steel pipe and tube specifiers, stockholders and distributors
- Providers of testing and assessment facilities
- Notified bodies under the PED
The steel grades and properties for the carbon and low alloy steel grades are aligned with those for seamless tubes in the BS EN 10216 series, enabling either seamless or welded tubes to be used in many cases.
High frequency welded (HFW) steel tubes, sometimes referred to as electric resistance welded (ERW), and submerged arc welded (SAW) steel tubes are covered. HFW tubes and pipes are produced from steel strip and are electric welded without the use of added filler metal. SAW pipes are produced from steel plate and are fusion welded using appropriate welding consumables. In general HFW pipes are produced up to 610mm OD, whereas SAW pipes are not typically produced in diameters below 406.4mm.
Note: BS EN 10217 steel tubes and pipes can be used for a whole range of applications from building services to critical industrial requirements involving gas or chemicals, or valve or fitting production. It is therefore very important that the specifier, designer or user selects the most suitable tube or pipe type and grade to meet their requirements from the seven standards in the series.
BS EN 10217-2 :2019 Standard – Welded steel tubes for pressure purposes.Technical delivery conditions.Electric welded non-alloy and alloy steel tubes with specified elevated temperature properties

It’s the third in a series of seven European product standards on welded steel tubes and pipes for pressure purposes. Such pipes are mainly for use in industrial pipework specified and designed in accordance with the BS EN 13480 series of standards.BS EN 10217 standard part 3 covers low-alloy HFW and SAW fine grain steel tubes and pipes intended for use at low temperature, room temperature or elevated temperature.

BS EN 10241: 2000 – Steel threaded pipe fittings
European Standard EN 10241 specifies requirements for screw threaded fittings of nominal sizes from DN 6 to DN 150 inclusive,made out of welded steel or seamless steel tubes,forging and rolled bars.It is applicable to those screw threaded steel pipe fittings that are used in the transportation and distribution of liquid or gas.
DIN EN 10253-1 Standard: Butt Welding Pipe Fittings – Part 1: Wrought Carbon Steel for General Use and Without Specific Inspection Requirements
This European Standard specifies requirements for steel butt welding fittings (elbows and return bends,concentric and eccentric reducers, equal and reducing tees,dished ends and caps) made of wrought carbon steel and delivered without specific inspection.
The fittings described in this European Standard do not fulfill specific design requirements,consequently they cannot be considered as conforming to the Essential Requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive (Directive 97/23/EC of 29.05.1997).
It specifies :
- the steel grade and its chemical composition;
- the mechanical characteristics;
- the dimensions and tolerances;
- the technical conditions for inspection and testing;
- the marking, packaging and inspection documents.
When steel grade S265 is specified in 4.1.2,the normative annex A applies and takes preference over conflicting requirements in the relevant areas of the main text.

It specifies:
- the type of fittings;
- type A
- type B
- the steel grades;
- the mechanical properties;
- the dimensions and tolerances;
- the requirements for inspection and testing;
- the inspection documents;
- the marking;
- the handling and packaging.
NOTE: In the case of a harmonised supporting standard for materials, presumption of conformity to the Essential Requirement(s) (ESRs) is limited to technical data of materials in the standard and does not presume adequacy of the material to a specific item of equipment. Consequently the technical data stated in the material standard should be assessed against the design requirements of this specific item of equipment to verify that the ESRs of the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) are satisfied.
BS EN 1092-1 :2018 Standard – Specification for Flanges and their joints.Circular flanges for pipes,valves,fittings and accessories,PN designated.Steel flanges
BS EN 1092-1:2018 for a single series of flanges specifies requirements for circular steel flanges in PN designations PN 2,5 to PN 400 and nominal sizes from DN 10 to DN 4000.

For the purpose of this European Standard, “flanges” include also lapped ends and collars.
This European Standard applies to flanges manufactured in accordance with the methods described in Table 1.
