Haihao Group has completed the production and shipment of a batch of forged pipe fittings for a customer in Russia. The order combines a 1-inch Class 3000 45° socket weld elbow in ASTM A350 LF2 Class 1 with a 1″ × 3/4″ eccentric swage nipple in ASTM A420 WPL6, covering two different fitting types used in demanding piping systems.

Although both products are small-bore components, the material and dimensional requirements are closely tied to the operating conditions of the pipeline. For this Russian project, the customer specified ASME B16.11 for the forged elbow and MSS SP-95 for the eccentric swage nipple, with the material grades selected for low-temperature service.

Why A350 LF2 Class 1 Is Used in Low-Temperature Service

ASTM A350 LF2 Class 1 is a low-temperature carbon and low-alloy steel grade used for forged flanges and fittings. Its application is associated with services where resistance to brittle fracture is a key consideration.

A420 WPL6 Swage Nipple for Size Transition

The second product is a 1″ × 3/4″ eccentric swage nipple, manufactured from ASTM A420 WPL6 and supplied to MSS SP-95.

Unlike a conventional butt-weld reducer, a swage nipple is commonly used to connect different pipe sizes while also providing a practical transition between piping components. The eccentric configuration allows the two connection centerlines to be offset, which can be useful where drainage, venting or pipe elevation needs to be considered during piping layout.
