Successful application of X70 Type B sleeves in the National pipeline west division company
In recent years, as the operational lifespans of natural gas, crude oil, and petroleum product pipelines have increased, the installation of B-type sleeves has become a common method for addressing pipeline corrosion and wall thickness reduction risks. Currently, domestic oil and gas pipelines typically use Q345RB-type sleeves, which, although suitable for pipeline repairs, come with a heavier weight. Recently, the national pipeline west division company’s Jiuquan Oil and Gas transmission branch successfully completed hot work for the installation of B-type sleeves at the KP1984-150m section of the West-East gas pipeline Line 3, innovatively using X70-grade steel for these sleeves.
The X70 steel B-type sleeves used in this application have reduced wall thickness by 19% to 30% compared to traditional sleeves and have reduced weight by approximately 200 kg. This achievement not only facilitates defect repairs but also significantly lightens the burden on the pipeline. Moreover, these sleeves closely match the material of the pipeline body, making them less susceptible to stress concentration when facing high-pressure deformations, thereby greatly extending the service life of the sleeves. This development holds crucial significance in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and stable operation of the pipeline network.
Haihao Group has been deeply involved in the field of pipeline engineering for over 40 years. We closely monitor the latest developments in the pipeline industry and actively participate in the construction of various pipeline systems at home and abroad. The successful application of X70 steel sleeves has prompted us to contemplate how to improve and upgrade our product designs, enabling us to play a more significant role in the future.
