Welding requirements for split tee
With the development of the oil and gas industry, the requirements for the maintenance, replacement and transformation of the pipeline system are also increasing, and the pressure drilling technology has increasingly highlighted its dominant position. Therefore, during the construction of these pipelines, attention should be paid to the construction process and equipment inspection, especially the welding process, which should be strictly implemented in accordance with the company’s regulations. Therefore, the welding operation needs to do the welding procedure qualification and formulate the welding procedures in advance, and obtain the approval from the relevant departments. Welding welders shall have relevant qualifications for carrying out special welding under pressure in pipeline engineering.
The split tee is usually used on the pipe that has been laid, and the opening is used, and the welding of the split tee is also particularly important.
1.Pay attention to the appropriate amount of grinding or grinding of the split tee fittings for the spiral weld and straight weld of the pipeline, and ensure that the gap between the split tee guard and the pipeline is not greater than 2mm. The distance difference between the two ends of the split tee flange along the axis of the pipeline and the top of the pipe should not be greater than 1mm, and the distance between the central axis of the split tee method and the axis of the pipeline where it is located should not be greater than 1.5mm.
2.When welding the split tee circumferential fillet weld on the pipeline, each weld should be welded by at least 2 welders at the same time, and the two arcs should be at least 50mm apart.
3.Correctness of welding sequence of longitudinal straight weld and circumferential fillet weld. Make sure that the two welders do not weld at the same point, which will cause overheating of the parent pipeline at the same time, prevent burn-through and ensure the gas safety in the pipeline. A backing plate should be added to the longitudinal straight weld of the split tee, and it should not be directly welded with the base metal of the pipeline. The form of surfacing should be adopted for the split tee and the circumferential fillet weld of the pipeline.
4.Inspection of weld quality. Visual inspection and non-destructive testing of the split tee welds are required, and radiographic testing and ultrasonic testing are preferred.
